Έχει βραδιάσει. Βγαίνεις για μια βόλτα. Κυκλοφορείς στις γειτονιές του Σέφιλντ και βλέπεις μια κοπέλα να περπατάει μόνη της στον δρόμο. Δεν είναι μια τυπική κοπέλα. Είναι ιερόδουλη και ψάχνει για πελάτες. Εμφανίζεται ο ‘scummy man’, ο αλήτης, ο λεχρίτης.
Έτσι τον ονομάζει ο Τέρνερ γιατί τον θεωρεί ένα σίχαμα που συμπεριφέρεται στις γυναίκες λες και είναι μια μορφή ιδιοκτησίας. Αυτός ο αλήτης λοιπόν, έρχεται με το Ford Mondeo του και την βάζει μέσα. Εκείνη ξεφυσάει. Είναι χαρούμενη που τον βλέπει. Είναι χαρούμενη που επιτέλους έπιασε κάποιον πελάτη γιατί είχε παγώσει έξω στο κρύο όσο περίμενε. Δεν φορούσε και κάτι της προκοπής – μόνο πρόστυχα ρούχα που εξάπτουν τη φαντασία των αντρών. Αυτός ο αλήτης όμως, δεν έχει και τις καλύτερες προθέσεις. Εκείνη κάνει απλά τη δουλειά που επέλεξε/αναγκάστηκε να κάνει. Ο Άλεξ ελπίζει πως δεν θα αποτελέσει άλλο ένα πιόνι στο καλοστημένο του παιχνίδι.
Γιατί, σε τελική φάση, ο Άλεξ πιστεύει πως αξίζει κάτι καλύτερο από αυτόν.

16 Ιανουαρίου του 2006, οι Arctic Monkeys κυκλοφορούν το “When The Sun Goes Down” ως το δεύτερο single τους. Μετά το υπερ-επιτυχημένο "I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor", χτυπάει κι αυτό κατευθείαν κορυφή στα UK Singles Chart και συμπεριλαμβάνεται στο debut άλμπουμ τους, "Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not", μια εβδομάδα αργότερα.
Το music video είναι σκηνοθετημένο από τον Paul Fraser και είναι βασισμένο στη μίνι-ταινία ‘Scummy Man’ (αυτόν τον τίτλο είχε στις αρχές το τραγούδι), η οποία ακολουθεί πιστά τους στίχους του.
