Τα Νέα Του Paul Orwell
Ο χαρισματικός και απολύτως ξεχωριστός Λονδρέζος Paul Orwell (διάβασε εδώ τη συνέντευξή του στο Υπόγειο) μας καθήλωσε πέρσι με το ντεμπούτο του Blowing Your Mind Away, ένα 60's revival λαμπερό διαμάντι που στοίχειωσε το BSMNT airplay για μήνες και βρέθηκε στο Νο5 στη λίστα με τα καλύτερα albums του 2015. Το 2016 βρίσκει τον Paul στις επάλξεις, τόσο με το νέο του project The Shoots, τους οποίους πρόσφατα σας παρουσιάσαμε στη στήλη Nice To Meet You - check here, όσο και με την προετοιμασία του δεύτερου solo δίσκου του, ο οποίος θα κυκλοφορήσει μέσα στη χρονιά. Σήμερα, σας έχω νέα και από τα δύο...μέτωπα.
Ξεκινάμε από το νέο κομμάτι που μας έδωσε με τους Shoots, το The Last Goodbye, ένα αντίο του Orwell στον πατέρα του, τον οποίο ο Βρετανός μουσικός έχασε από καρκίνο. Ένα αντίο που δεν πρόλαβε να του πει, όσο ο πατέρας του ήταν εν ζωή... Στίχοι-μουσική από τον Paul, τραγούδι από τον Lord Essien. Η παρουσίαση του τραγουδιού στα facebook pages του Orwell και της μπάντας συνοδεύτηκε και από ένα απείρως συγκινητικό κείμενο:
"This is the most personal song i have ever written and it's hard for me to write this post to say my feelings…but i'll give it a go.
I lost my Dad to cancer around 8 years ago, he was my rock, my hero, the man in my life i looked up to more than anyone.
He dropped me off to the airport to fly to Ibiza for my holiday, we had a hug and away i went.
A couple of nights into the holiday i got the call/news that my Dad was taken to hospital in a bad way, we spoke on the phone, but he was so out of it on the drugs they pumped into him he didn't know what day it was.
My Mum told me this was probably the last time i was ever going to speak to my Dad, that killed me so much…i mean what can you do but breakdown.
Just as i arranged the flight back i got the news i was too late.
It's hard enough losing a parent, but not to be around tortures me inside.
He would of done anything for me, and i couldn't be around when he needed me most.
People can say, he'll be proud of you etc etc… but it means nothing, and i have to carry on the only way i know how.
This song is the only way i can really show it, i couldn't sing it (well apart from the backing) because it just breaks my heart.
Anyone who has ever lost a parent/anyone that they was close to would know this pain.
Do not take anything for granted and always love one another.
Lord Essien sings the vocals, and i'm honoured that he really put the feeling in that i could not get out of my soul….thank you brother!
Hope i haven't depressed anyone too much, just something that i've never got off my chest… People who know me, know it's not really my thing to say these things.

Συνεχίζουμε με τη σόλο πορεία του Paul Orwell και σας παρουσιάζουμε το νέο του single Don't Do As I Do, Just Do As I Say, το οποίο κυκλοφόρησε επίσημα προχτές σε 7ιντσο βινύλιο. Το κομμάτι θα είναι στο tracklist του δεύτερου full album του, ο οποίος θα είναι ορχηστρικός και θα ονομάζεται Organized Blues. Τον αναμένουμε πιθανότατα μέσα στο 2016.
