Ayler The Pilot
O Larry Gus, αυτός ο μέγας μάγος και γητευτής των ήχων, μόλις κυκλοφόρησε το "Ayler The Pilot", το τρίτο single από τον δίσκο "Subservient" που κυκλοφορεί στις 25 Οκτωβρίου από την DFA.
Είχαν προηγηθεί δύο ακόμα προάγγελοι του άλμπουμ, τα "Taped Hands Here" και το "Readers And Authors" που κυκλοφόρησαν την ίδια μέρα.To "Taped Hands Free" έχει ελληνικό στίχο και το αρχικό του όνομα, όπως μας ενημερώνει στην σελίδα του ο Λάρυγγας, ήταν "Big Star Kraut", ενώ το "Readers And Authors" λεγόταν "Balogna True" και παίζει μπάλα ταυτόχρονα με ελληνικό και αγγλικό στίχο. Η σύζευξη των δύο γλωσσών, όμως, είναι τόσο εναρμονισμένοι, που δεν καταλαβαίνεις καν την αλλαγή γλώσσας. To ίδιο συμβαίνει και με το άρτι αφιχθέν "Ayler The Pilot".
Ο Larry Gus είναι ένας μοναδικός καλλιτέχνης και το νιώθω αυτό κάθε φορά που τον ακούω. Από το "Years Not Living" του 2013 μέχρι και τα τρία πρώτα singles από τον... "Υποτακτικό" που έρχεται σε μια εβδομάδα, πάντα με αφήνει άφωνο και πάντα βρίσκω εναν διαφορετικό λόγο να τον αγαπώ και τον θαυμάζω. Ερωτεύτηκα το άρτι αφιχθέν "Ayler The Pilot" από το πρώτο άκουσμα και έχω χάσει τα λόγια μου. Μου βγάζει μια ηρεμία και μια χαρά, θέλω να το ακούω ξανά και ξανά. Τρία πολύ όμορφα κομμάτια εν γένει και σε λίγες μέρες θα έχουμε και τα άλλα επτά που θα συμπληρώσουν το δίσκο. Παρακάτω υπάρχουν και τα τρία tracks προς ακρόασή σας, αλλά προηγούνται τα λόγια του ίδιου του Παναγιώτη (Παναγιώτης Μελίδης το κανονικό όνομά του) για τα δύο πρώτα singles.
"Taped Hands Here had the self-explanatory working title "Big Star Kraut" and it's based on a bassline/chord sequence i wrote back in Milan in 2012. as all of the songs on my new album, there are zero zero zero samples in here (that's a first for me) and most of the instrumentation is my drums and percussion and vocals through the SM57 (only mic i used on the album), plus my old squire precision bass through a ibanez auto filter (AF9) pedal, my (also super super) old kimaxe stratocaster, and all of the synth sounds are the JV-1010 and the OP1.
Readers & Authors had the working title "Balogna True" (don't ask) and it's one of the songs that i worked a lot on in order to nail it down, mostly w/r/t to the composition parts of it, and Abe Seiferth who mixed the album said that it has some interesting basslines, so we have the bass more prominent here. i love the brass sound here, super cheap and weird, all JV1010 through the SP404 fx, this sound is all over the album, at some point i was even thinking of replacing those sounds with actual Brass, but yeah, it never happens."
